3rd edition of “And Action! Asia” Launches
Exchange programme partners to bring 19 Asian students together to co-produce short films in the Philippines
Now in its 3rd edition, the Japan Foundation Asia Center is teaming up with the University of the Philippines Film Institute, in cooperation with Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde to run the next edition of its “…and Action! Asia” exchange programme from Feb 26 to Mar 10, 2017.
19 students from the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia will come together to co-produce short films within an eight-day production schedule in Quezon City. During their stay, they’ll be part of lectures conducted by guest speakers that include producer Bianca Balbuena, director Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, and writer Armando Lao. The short films will be screened on March 8, 2017 from 2 p.m. at Cine Adarna UP Film Institute, which is open to the public with free admission.
The programme aims to encourage a new generation of filmmakers from Asia to achieve a greater understanding of film making in other countries, expand their networks in the region, and utilize their experience for their studies and future careers. For its 3rd edition, the program duration has been extended and held outside Japan for the first time.
