NAFF IT Project 2017 Last Call For Submissions!

One month to go for Asia’s largest genre project market’s deadline.

Presented alongside the 21st Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan), the 10th edition of the Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF) is calling for prospective film projects to apply soon for the NAFF IT Project, the first ever exclusive project market for genre films in Asia. NAFF IT Project’s submission closes on 28 April, 2017.

NAFF, BiFan’s multifaceted, in-depth industry platform, has provided invaluable opportunities and firsthand access for independent filmmakers around the globe to move their film projects further toward its next steps of film development, co-production, co-financing, post-production, and distribution.

Since its inception in 2008, more than 100 film projects have participated in NAFF, and a good many of these film projects have gone on to become completed and distributed feature films. One of NAFF IT Project’s 2013 selection was Interchange by Malaysian filmmaker, Dain Iskandar Said, which went on to premiere at the 2016 Locarno International Film Festival and followed up with a wide release in its home country in December last year.

NAFF IT Project is looking for unique and exceptional stories for genre films ranging from the spectrum of fantasy, horror, thriller, action, black comedy, and sci-fi. In order to be eligible, a feature-length film project in any of the aforementioned genres, with 60 minutes and over running time and slated for theatrical release, must be submitted by either its attached director or producer. The film project can be in any stage of production, be it in screenplay development, pre-production, production, or post-production, and full financing must not yet be in place for it.

Selected projects will be presented at the NAFF IT Project market on 15-18 July, 2017, in conjuction with the 21st edition of BiFan taking place on 13-23 July, 2017 at Bucheon in South Korea. Filmmaker participants will have numerous opportunities to network with key industry players and stakeholders during one-on-one business meetings and other planned activities during the 4-day event. Official selections of NAFF IT Project will be announced on 22 May, 2017.

Janice freelances as a Screenwriter and Director in the Philippines and the U.S., but her first, great love will always be Creative Writing. She's contributed for dailies and magazines in her island hometown of Cebu from the age of 14. One of her most exciting writing gigs was in the Film section of the now-defunct lifestyle webzine, Limité, in which she got to interview one of her filmmaker heroes, Richard Linklater in New York City in 2012. When she's not writing or daydreaming up stories, Janice loves to go backpacking around small islands, making driftwood art, and playing with her Shih-Poo dog, Brandy.
