Venice International Film Festival, one of the “Big 3” of the European film festivals is gearing for its 74th edition this 30th August – 9th September, 2017 at the Venice Lido, led by Festival Director, Alberto Barbera. Venice International Film Festival has always maintained the promotion of international cinema in all its forms: as art, as entertainment, and as an industry, and with this, they endeavour to serve the independent filmmaker in helping them get their stories made from script to screen.

In keeping with the times, the Festival is already introducing something new and different for this year’s edition – the Venice Virtual Reality, a new category dedicated to showcasing the best Virtual Reality (VR) films of any length. The Venice Virtual Reality category will feature VR films both in competition and in exhibition.

The project submission deadline for all categories is on 3rd May, 2017. For interested applicants, you can learn more here: Venice Gap-Financing Market.

Janice freelances as a Screenwriter and Director in the Philippines and the U.S., but her first, great love will always be Creative Writing. She's contributed for dailies and magazines in her island hometown of Cebu from the age of 14. One of her most exciting writing gigs was in the Film section of the now-defunct lifestyle webzine, Limité, in which she got to interview one of her filmmaker heroes, Richard Linklater in New York City in 2012. When she's not writing or daydreaming up stories, Janice loves to go backpacking around small islands, making driftwood art, and playing with her Shih-Poo dog, Brandy.
