Goshen Media & Aurora Media Holdings Tie Up On Media Investment Fund

Indonesia-Singapore Collaboration signals high point in Southeast Asia

Indonesia’s Goshen Media has inked a partnership with Singapore’s Aurora Media Holdings to jointly set up a media investment fund that will finance the best media content not just within the region, but also from around the world. The new venture, Goshen Aurora Capital, is the product of a partnership between Goshen Media, a one-stop turnkey premier entertainment and events specialist based in Indonesia, and Aurora Media Holdings, the leading media and entertainment asset incubation, investment and management company in the reion.

Both companies have made their mark in the media and entertainment industries in Southeast Asia with Goshen Media boasting an extensive experience across multiple platforms and value chains in the entertainment space, including licensing of international intellectual properties for live shows, and the organizing of mammoth events for consumers in popular culture. Aurora Media Holdings, meanwhile, has continued its march in co-producing and co-financing international projects and entities with strong commercial appeal with an established, stellar track record of profitable returns to private investors. Recently, Aurora Media Holdings announced its exciting partnership with Spout Entertainment Group, one of the key players in the Asian E-sports industry.

Goshen Aurora Capital will bring the spotlight on feature-length films and television content from Indonesia and across the region with high potential for sales in international markets to ensure maximum returns for stakeholders. The company’s first slate of projects includes Hollywood-Australia co-production, Storm Boy, top billed by Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush and rising star Jai Courtney, and India-France co-production The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, with Indian superstar Dhanush and Oscar nominees Berenice Bejo and Barkhad Abdi.

In keeping with its integral mission of supporting local talents from the region, Goshen Aurora Capital also endeavors to produce and promote stories that are homegrown. One of these is the dark comedy, Abracadabra, a Bahasa language film to be directed by Faozan Rizal and starring Reza Rahadian, produced by Ifa Isfansyah. The Legend, the Korean martial arts action film that’s also in the lineup, will be filmed extensively on location in Indonesia in Q4 2017. It was picked up at the Network of Asian Fantastic Films in Bucheon when it was chosen for the Aurora Producing Award. The revenge story is set in a prison in the near future, and stars Bruce Khan, an acclaimed action choreographer and pugilist that has worked as a stunt double for Jackie Chan.

Allen Jordan, CEO of Goshen Media, elaborates on how the new venture can help grow the Indonesian media industry, “This collaboration leverages on Aurora’s excellent network of international partners to propel Indonesian stories and talent onto the world stage. We have added ABRACADABRA in an investment and producing slate that includes films starring Oscar winners. Through THE LEGEND, we will have Indonesian actors in a Korean film, and transfer of skills from Korean key personnel to local crew. With Aurora’s trusted expertise in film financing and ability to create attractive returns for investors, it will help to grow the private media investment sector too.”

Chan Gin Kai, CEO of Silver Media Group and Chief Advisor to Aurora Media Holdings enthuses on the partnership with Goshen, “Indonesia is the largest film market in Southeast Asia and a fast growing economy. It has a vibrant private investment scene that is savvy and open to explore new opportunities. These elements create an ideal environment to launch a media fund with global aspirations. Goshen’s strong network of partners in investments and finance, and intimate knowledge of consumer trends, helps us to achieve the twin goals of building an investment war chest, and access to a rapidly growing consumer market.”

According to the team, as part of its efforts to help professionalize and grow the media-financing scene in Indonesia, Goshen Aurora Capital will be organizing regular seminars to educate interested investors on this attractive alternative sector.  The partnership is definitely a prime indicator that the film financing and producing industry is on an upswing as confidence in the quality and commercial aspects of filmmaking in Southeast Asia continues to grow.

When she's not writing or daydreaming up stories, Janice loves to go backpacking around small islands, making driftwood art, and playing with her Shih-Poo dog, Brandy.
